During
the first half of 1963, Ariel Ramirez com-posed the "MISA CRIOLLA"
on Argentine and Bolivian rythms. This work turned into a classic of Argentine
music and a concert piece. In 1969 it became part of our repertory, and
we have since sung it with hundreds of choirs in France, Spain and many
other countries wifh equal success. |
"Navidad Nuestra" (Argentinean Christmas), is a musical composition in the form of a Cantata, by Ariel Ramirez, author of "Miss Criolla". The lyrics are taken from a poem by the Argentinean poet Felix Luna, who transposes episodes from the New Testament and its pious implications, as if they had taken place in these new lands; the musical rhythms and characters are appropriate to local traditions. Since the mystery of Incarnation is universal; it can thus be located in any part of the world.. |
"Tierra Herida" was created by two members of the band "Los Calchakis". The lyrics are by Hector Miranda and the music by Sergio Arriagada. They have incorporated rhythms from all over South America: Patagonia, la Pampa, the Caribbean islands, Paraguay and even those from the ancient Inca Empire.
